FOCO invites you to grab a seat at our table. A Northeastern Experiential Club, FOCO is rooted in the idea of commensality (the act of eating together). FOCO builds community between students by taking advantage of each individual’s food culture to foster connection. Whether you are dying to learn a new recipe or simply hungry, your experience as part of the FOCO community grows with each event you attend. After all, we all just want to be happy and fed, together.

COMMENSALITY: THE ACT OF EATING TOGETHER
Eating together is a fundamental part of our social nature. Commensality has a deep social and cultural significance that dates back to the primitive creation of a fireplace; this act has grown hand in hand with human evolution. As a cross-cultural phenomenon in both past, present, and future, it is difficult to escape its desirability. And yet we find ourselves in a modern time where its value is sometimes forgotten. Amongst the rise of corporate lunch and TikTok, how often do we sit down and share a meal?

DESIGN DELIVERABLES
There are 3 mains elements that make FOCO what is it: the cookbook and recipe cards, the events, and the website. Together, these components foster community through food.

The product: a physical manifestation of the growing community visually and physically supported by printed collateral given at events.
POSTERS
Awareness builder: promote FOCO events as well as establish FOCO’s brand across campus with their unique and recognizable designs.
WEBSITE
Engagement facilitator: A hub for all things FOCO: recipe submissions, event voting, sign ups and more.
